English has always been a fascination of mine since college, where a previous teacher ignited a passion for the subject inside of me which continues to grow every day. As a graduate of English, I can truly say that the subject is as magical as it is challenging. Studying English brings with it an array of opportunities which not only broaden your mind academically but also culturally and socially. Having undertaken my degree at Liverpool John Moores University, I was exposed to modules which made me challenge and critique societal norms whilst challenging my abilities to deconstruct and analyse texts. In particular, the modules which accelerated my love for the subject were ‘Literature and Cultural Theory’, ‘Post-Millennial British Fiction’, ‘Race in America’, ‘Cultures of Childhood’ and ‘Literature Representing Masculinities’. These modules helped to not only craft and solidify my abilities to effectively interpret and evaluate literature, but much more significantly they have helped to shape my own character today.

After graduating from John Moores, I jumped into the world of teaching, where I qualified with an outstanding teacher status alongside a distinction from my PGDE course. I can truly say my training year solidified my love for this career. Passing on your love for your subject, and igniting excitement within children is the ultimate job satisfaction. It is truly a unique and rewarding experience.

In my spare time I enjoy travelling, fitness and reading. I have been to some amazing countries such as Singapore, Qatar and Indonesia. I think it’s important to try and discover the world as much as possible in order to broaden our minds and expose ourselves to different cultures. Equally, I am extremely passionate about reading as it enables us to delve into various worlds: it increases our ability to think creatively and helps us to grow mentally, emotionally and psychologically.

I am excited and feel extremely lucky to grow as a practitioner within the very special Kings Leadership Academy. The school’s Mantra ‘Credimus’ resides with my own as I truly believe every child has the right to an exceptional education, and to play an active role within this aspirational environment is truly amazing.
